The reunion co-chairs for our last reunion had arranged with George Chopivsky, our fearless Class Secretary, for a "weekend in St. Croix" as a prize going to the college that had the best turnout for the reunion.   George would donate his access to Pyramid Point, a beautiful compound on the north side of St. Croix.   Members of the winning college (JE in this case) would fly there for a spring weekend and enjoy a mini-vacation and mini-reunion.

John Nelson, John Gazzoli, Steve Haworth, Eric Lenck, Irwin Sentilles, Charlie Lerman and Wayne Willis all seized the opportunity on behalf of the JE Spiders, and Lang Wheeler, Mac Thompson and George Chopivsky made sure the Spiders didn't get too rowdy.

Flying to St. Croix for a long weekend may seem a bit deranged ... or at least decadent, but the quality of the crowd, and the opportunity to snorkel, golf, walk, swim or simply hang out with friends was not to be missed.

Here are some pictures of the lovely home we stayed at:

And here are some pictures of our group -- complete with cellphone conversations with the office and so on.

The golfers got in a couple rounds of golf on Friday and Sunday, but we don't have pictures of that, so, like modern politics ("if it's not on video, it doesn't exist"), we'll skip right over that.

We took a snorkeling trip on Saturday

Charlie had an underwater camera and he was too bashful to spend more time on the girl in the bumble bee bikini:

On Sunday night we had a wonderful dinner with local lobsters.

Here's a short video of the gang helping out with dinner prep ... complete with a recording of the 1969 Whiffs, as recorded at our 35th reunion:

But then, Monday intruded ... and we left, a bit heavier than when we arrived but not any worse for the wear. A few of our group were taking a later plane and had time to visit the old fort in Christiansted:

  1. Thanks to George for providing the graceful and warm hospitality and the incredible venue for the event. And, here's to you fellow Elis...it was great to catch up (and with some for the first time, really). Arrived back to Seattle late Tuesday night with snow at landing. When can we do it again?
